Our July Community Event

Sheep Creek Triathlon TrophyWe want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to and attended our fantastic July Community Celebration in Sheep Creek! Our goals were to raise money for scholarships, build community spirit, and have fun—and we absolutely succeeded!

The parade was a blast, with 13 wonderfully decorated and upbeat floats. It was heartwarming to see our neighbors waving and cheering as the parade passed.

The Triathlon was both wacky and wonderful, featuring over 35 enthusiastic participants. Our own Kerri Karcz won the 4-foot trophy. Congratulations, Kerri!

Our auction was a huge success. A big thank you to the generous individuals who donated such fantastic items and to everyone who placed bids.

Lunch was fabulous, with over 100 attendees enjoying the meal. Thank you to all who donated food and drinks, cooked, and brought dishes. We shared a lovely lunch with new and old friends alike. A special thank you to Chris and Leah for hosting us!

We know we are repeating ourselves, but we are sincerely grateful to every one of you.

Warmly,

The Sheep Creek Scholarship Committee

Antonito High School New York Trip

Hey Sheep Creeker! Check out this beautiful thank you note from Antonito, South Conejos High Schoolers.

After providing three scholarships to each high school in Conejos County, we turned to our local Antonito school. They needed help fulfilling the Senior Class’s dream of visiting New York City. Many had never been out of Colorado. So, yes, your donations did help make this dream come true.

More photos from their trip. Just look at those happy faces! ↙️

A Note From Debra

Hello to all! Thanks to everyone who contributed to and attended our July 1st celebration in Sheep Creek. We set out to raise money for scholarships, build community spirit and have fun!

Our parade was a blast. We had 14 decorated, upbeat “floats”. The parade was greeted by our neighbors who waved, cheered, blew bubbles, rang cowbells and triangles and even played bagpipes.

The Triathlon was indeed wacky and wonderful with over 50 participants. The 4 foot trophy, won by Grayson from Bear Creek, was taller than him!

Congrats Grayson.

The auction was a success. Thank you to the generous people who donated such great items and to all who bid.

Lunch was fabulous with 100 attendees! Thanks to all who donated food and drinks, cooked and brought dishes. We got to share a lovely meal with new and old friends. Thank you to the Eanes family for hosting us!

I know I keep repeating myself, BUT, thank you All!

SC Scholarship Funds Update – April 2023

At the end of March, I sent letters to the three Conejos County High School’s counselors and included a $2,500 scholarship check and a flyer inviting them to our July 1st festivities.

April 26th Doug and I delivered chocolate chip cookies and fruit for the staff, to Antonito schools. We also delivered 10 containers of Clorox wipes and 24 boxes of facial tissues. Also, the school’s large popcorn machine died. They used it extensively for classroom treats so I ordered a new one that will be delivered to the school along with popcorn oil and popcorn. They were over the moon excited and I’ve already received a thank you from one of the teachers.

We may not have big bucks, but what we do have does make a difference and is much appreciated. Thank you for your donations to our scholarship fund!
